Last week i upgraded php to 5.3 and found that I have now problems now with password recovery and signup.
I am getting this message

Mail has NOT been sent.
Unfortunately we could not send the confirmation e-mail to you at this time.
Same for password recovery.
Contacted hosting provider and they told me everything is working fine.
Any idea? Downgrading PHP is not a option, neither upgrading to 7.1
