Serious error! Website completely down :(

Hey guys,

I just got done removing the Files menu items. Right after that, my website became unavailable. The screen just goes white. The following PHP error gets displayed:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ')' in /hd/1/www/website.com/cache/db_sys_menu_top_06e9446733b4a4a660f697987accc134.php on line 330

I tried adding the Files menu item back, but it says it cannot add the object. Shortly after trying to add it back, the admin section also turns white. Right now the entire website is down other than my index.html page.

Any ideas??

Caching issue.

Clear contents of cache and cache_public folders manually via FTP or cpanel except for any .htaccess files in them.

While your working on your site you may want to turn of caching.

 Good point! thank you.

I'll keep that in mind for next time. I kind of panicked at the last second and decide to restore to a backup I had from a couple of hours ago.

When you turn the cache off, does it get cleared or does it stay intact?

Depending on your template, when you re-enable your chache you may not see the edits you have made until you clear your cache. As Deano mentions above clear your cache and cache_public via FTP NEVER delete .htaccess files within the two folders. Good Luck...
