Hello all:
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a reliable, customer service oriented hosting company offering ffmpeg and/or media server that works well with dolphin.
Thank you so much.

Well ive just signed up with Joombyte for my dolphin hosting and i think they are just excellent. They have this package for $19.95 USD a month (works out about 160 quid a year) they also installed dolphin for me and set up RMS all for free, and all within a couple of hours or something, and thats with waiting for the free domain name that comes with the package to propagate. When you sign up you have send a ticket to request dolphin instalation with RMS, and within 10 minutes i had my reply and they would let me know when it was all ready. Im with host papa for my two other forums and gallarys which is a big place, but joombyte makes these look ike amatures. Regards Tyke |
I'm searching for reliable, fast & "cheap" server too.
I'm currently using HFW dedicated server, paying about USD150 per month. I've close to 4000 members now and the daily unique visitor is only about 350. But the dedicate server breakdown very frequent. This month alone it's been down 5 times! HFW has asked me to add more RAM & upgrade to better server but it would cost me close to USD200/month.
I'm running a free site & didn't charge anything to my members. I'm losing money every month so far as the only revenue I get is from google adsense where i usually get about USD100 per month from them.
I hope someone out there can recommend something to me as I might have to close down my site if it keeps on losing money. My budget is USD150 month or lesser with 24/7 live chat support.
Thanks! |

Joombyte is a great host and the price is spot on. If you do this seriously then you need serious Horse Power. A virtual is acceptable configured correctly with a seperate RMS (for 20-30 concurrent users you would want this) I feel your pain about the free site thing. Also reach out to "sammie" she may provide some of the services you might need. |
anyone hosted at joombyte too? i was thinking of moving my website from HFW dedicated server to Joombyte shared server.
Any opinion? I'm not sure if i'm taking the correct move. I've close to 4000 members which daily average visitors are 350. My dedicated server with HFW always down, at least few times per month. They keep asking me to upgrade to a better server. The problem is I'm already paying USD150 per month. I can't afford to upgrade to a better server which cost USD200 per month.
Looking at Joombyte 300 Plan , just USD39.95 per month. It would save me a lot of money. But I really need some advice here. Thanks!
Here's the spec of HFW :(dedicated server) Intel E1200 DualCore Celeron 1.60GHz 512MB 800Mhz 1GB DDR2 RAM 250GB SATA 3GBPS Hard Drive 2000GB Bandwidth
Here's the spec of Joombyte: (shared server) Disk Space 300 GB Bandwidth 2TB Dual Xeon Quad Core Processor w/ Minimum of 8 Processors! Dolphin Websites Allowed 5 |

Well all i can tell you is that im on the 100 plan at joombyte and its the best move ive ever made, im just starting out so dont have that many members so far, but still, the site runs as smooth as silk, and the joombyte staff seem to understand there is stiff competition so are really quick to get back to support tickets to keep us happy. I think in your situation what i would do is contact them, tell them your membership level and loggins per day, usage in the chat rooms ect and im sure they will give you an honest answer. as far as the server concerned, it is quick, and hasnt been down once yet for me, or run slow or anything, plus they offer free instalation of dolphin and RMS service too, and thats on the 100 plan, so i can only see better things for the 300 plan. Tyke I did tell Joombyte on the number of members and daily visitors I've and they recommended me to try their Dolphin 300. But 1 thing stop me from jumping the ship immediately is that we need to pay 1 whole year subcription fees upfront. That's why I'm a bit cautious as I don't know if their service level is consistent. |
I know what you mean, but i do believe they run a 30 day money back thing. Still, it is a bit of money to put up all at once if your arent making anything from your site. But then by the sound of it you are already paying a lot more for your current host. It is nervy to change hosts i know, but if the one you are using now is unstable and still want more money from you, then the move seems like a good one with you having so many members on your site. I know from running two forums already, if your hosts starts to become unstable and the site keeps going down, the members get fed up and start to look elsewhere. There is another host that people like, i think its called terrabyte or something like that, but they are a lot more expensive than joombyte, but people do sing its praises. Regards Tyke |
