Setting 755 permission ./inc on shared server

I'm on the 2nd to last step of installation (Permission Reversal) and it is asking me to change the permission from writable -> non-writable. On this detailed installation guide: http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DetailedInstall#Permissions it says to use this command in your FTP client: SITE CHMOD 755 ./inc I've done this and my FTP client says it changed it correctly but when I go back to the installation page and press the 'check' it says it is snot writable. I can also go into the GoDaddy hosting manager and they have an online FTP viewer and I can select the folder and change the permissions. I can checkbox the 'Web User Permissions' with Read, Write, and Execute and I can checkbox the 'Owner Permissions' with Read, Write, and Execute. But I CANNOT change the Group Permissions so how can I set the permission to 755? Do I have to have a dedicated server?

Is the G in UGO (User, Group, Other) the root access? U-7, G-5, O-5 so with the GoDaddy Host Manager I can change ./inc to U-7 and O-5 but not G-5?

Please assure the main folder you are changing the permissions to is writable and report here the error your FTP is showing.

I have this exact problem... permission reversal at the end of dolphin install says to set .inc folder permission to 755, but after this is changed to 755, the install script shows this.

Directories Current Level Desired Level
inc Writable Non-writable

Can someone help please so that I can finish install?

Mandy

PHP may be running under GCI on your server. Try setting the permission for the /inc/ directory to 555.

555 had worked for me before, but this time the software will not let me progress past this page, as when I click next or skip, it gives a fatal error.

Arvixe uploaded the software to my server for me due to continual problems getting the software to install and function properly... but it looks like they can't do the job either... new hosting is on the horizon by the looks of things.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function bx_import() in /home/mandyn/public_html/dolphDIR/inc/classes/BxDolConfig.php on line 24

this is the error that comes up after the permission reversal has been changed to non-writable... hmmm

In an attempt to fix the problem of the script not installing properly, Arvixe deleted the entire public_html folder leaving it empty without the default folders that are usually in it, then they uploaded dolphin to a newly created directory inside the public_html folder leaving the installation to be manually done by myself.

They tell me that the files and folders uploaded without errors, but I seriously suspect that is not true... why would I get this fatal error?
