Several Issues with 7 Beta 5

1 - Whenever I try to upload a video a message appears and says "Video Upload Failed (Video Error)". I have checked my permissions and all seems fine. Music and photos work fine. Any ideas?

2 - Whenever I go to my profile Privacy Settings, click the drop down for who to allow access, its blank. But when I create a photo gallery, I can see them fine  (ex. public, friends, faves, etc.)

3 - I tried to record a video from my webcam, I click accept, the click the record button and receive the error "Connection Error. Click OK to reconnect." Even though I can see my webcam there.

I have version 6.14 running with no problems, so Im not fretting it right now. But I would like some assistance if possible.

Thanks !!

Wolf2217, your direction help me resolve issue #2. Thank you.

So for issue # 1 Whenever I try to upload a video a message appears and says "Video Upload Failed (Video Error)" then slides to the left and disappears. I have checked my permissions and all seems fine. Music and photos work fine. Any ideas?

* This is a known issue Lavinco, is that correct (1. = server issue yet to be worked out with the script.)?

For issue # 3 I tried to record a video from my webcam, I click accept, the click the record button and receive the error "Connection Error. Click OK to reconnect." Even though I can see my webcam there.

* You said "3. = incorrect rms settings". I would believe that more if my chat and IM were not working, but they work just fine. Maybe I can be more descriptive, When I click the record option in Video Upload, I click accept, I can then see my webcam (waving to it).. As soon as I click the record button. BAM!! "Connection Error. Click OK to reconnect."

Thanks in advance :)

RMS setting have nothing to do with whether or not chat and IM works. rms is for recording sound and video exclusively. I too wish that this was not so, but it's just the way the script is made.

As far as your video uploads go, can you show me what your cron command and who you host with. You should eliminate any identifying info. i don't need that. I'm more curious to know if your full path is wrong.

I checked the Cron Jobs and they seemed to be labeled backwards. See below for example:

/home/xxxxxx/xxxxxxx/ver7/periodic/cron.php /usr/local/bin/php -q

So I changed it to reflect how the others looked:

/usr/local/bin/php -q /home/xxxxxx/xxxxxxxxx/ver7/periodic/cron.php

I also noticed the time was set wrong so I changed it to reflect every minute, like this:

* * * * /usr/local/bin/php -q /home/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxx/ver7/periodic/cron.php

Would you happen to know what the correct RMS settings for the Free RMS? I cannot use mine until I switch to my "actual" domain. I have not touched them since the install.

BTW, I will let you know if this fixed my video issue..

Thank

Who is your host? Some, like godaddy, allow you to browse for the file from the cron manager. You will have to do this if the browse feature is there.

Quote · 31 Aug 2009

I use Cirtex. They have a CPanel that you use to setup Cron Jobs. It does not allow you to browse for the file itself. Although that would be nice. I'm thinking of seriously re-installing on my domain in a sub folder instead of a "Sub Domain" itself. This was I can remove the banners and use my own RMS settings. Well, I guess this is all what they say about betas.. Test Test Test.

Well, I decided to re-install the whole Beta 5 again into a subfolder on the main domain. I am about to pull my freakin hair out trying to figure out why these videos will not work.

** My 6.1.4 version (works great) located like www.mysite.com

** Beta has now been installed like here www.mysite.com/ver7

I do not see too many people having this same problem on here so Im thinking its something I overlooked.

Description of problem:

- Click to add video

- I have chosen ALL options and the same thing happens with all of them

- I pick a small (2.5 MB tried several) FLV file (also tried WMV as well)

- I click continue

- Within 5-6 seconds, a little message appears from the left that says "Video Upload Failed (Video Error)". and then just slides back to the left into space..haha

I do have a question, when you install "boonex modules" (photo, sounds, video), do you also have to go into your flash apps and install/register your chat, photo shooter, video player, etc..? I noticed my chat worked just fine before I even went into the flash apps area.

Please note that I do not have any problem with pictures or music OR my ver. 6.1.4. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Is the file extention of your .flv caps like .FLV instead?

If so, this is the problem. It was the same issue with photos before they fixed it, where UPPERCASE file extentions like JPG instead of jpg were ignored for uploads.

To fix, go to Extensions >> Videos >> Settings and add UPPERCASE file extentions in the default box.

Hope this helps.

If not, you should check your php.ini settings and make sure that you meet the minimum requirements for file uploads in your server settings.

The file I was trying to upload was in lowercase, however I did add uppercase just in case. So the settings now look like this: avi flv mpg wmv AVI FLV MPG WMV

Also noticed the Lang key for default profile album name = _bx_videos_profile_album_name

Is that correct?

The site is using my current 6.1.4 PHP settings, since it is installed on the same domain. 50 MB limits, etc.

Also, did you have any info on this question: when you install "boonex modules" (photo, sounds, video), do you also have to go into your flash apps and install/register your chat, photo shooter, video player, etc..? I noticed my chat worked just fine before I even went into the flash apps area.

The flash apps settings are only for recording video and sound from your computer. It does not affect the flash uploader in any way.

The lang key will not affect it either. That is only naming the album.

Mine says

doc_root no value

but then again, since this is installed in a sub-directory of the main domain. These values are being read from there. I do not have a seperate php.ini in the /ver7 directory where this is installed. Maybe I should put one there. Not sure it will make a difference. The error im getting happened when I had it installed on test.mysite.com and mysite.com/ver7.

I can create a seperate php.ini that contain those values as you said.

BTW, I really appreciate your replies to this thread.

I am not sure if this is the right place to put my issue, but some comments might light-up the problem for those who might want to help me.

I installed the b5 on my server, and few issues are left, and most of the are details, not essential problems. However this one is incredible. I cannot get the videos to work in any way.

The sounds and photos are working well, both activated from flash apps and modules, the same with video.

I tried to upload videos using the new flash and the regular way, and everything goes smooth without any error message, on the server the files exist, with both a small and large screenshot.

But when I try to run it: "Error! The file is not found" and is right there, exactly like the sound structure, but it simply doesn't work and I tried multiple ways of upload, filetypes, etc.

Can you please tell me what am I doing wrong?

Lavinco,

Also wanted to let you that when I attempt to upload a video and I check the modules/video/files directory, it shows this 1_temp and that is all. No extensions or nothing. Does that assist any?

Do you mean flash/modules/videos/files/ folder? If so, then the 1_temp is usually present when the file is still uploading. ( at least that is when I have seen the temp files).

You had some unusally high settings in your php configuration. I wonder if something in the settings is having a conflict with dolphin 7 b5.

Consider throttling your settings to a normal or suggested rate.

Also, check that your ffmpeg.exe is set to 777 permissions as well as the flash/modules/videos/files/ folder. If 777 for the ffmpeg.exe does not work, try 755 or 666. It depends on your server configuration.

To make your answer easier, I have a small update. I have put the extension flv to the files on the server (they don't have an extension by default) and the video player started but nothing is loading.

Please help me.

try putting your php.ini file in the periodic folder. Someone recently said that worked.

Lavinco,

I tried to copy the php.ini file into the periodic but without any luck. Still the same problem.

In the video folder (where the video files are stored), the error_log file shows this:

[02-Sep-2009 12:07:59] PHP Fatal error:  Out of memory (allocated 30146560) (tried to allocate 27853108 bytes) in Unknown on line 0

Please help!

Another problem would be that I cannot record video comments, and video chat. I am not sure if these are connected.

Thank you!
