I would say NO. Why? Well, D7 has modified Shoutbox into an Ajax Module so I would assume it is not backwards compatiable. And there was extension expansion in the D7 DB so again, I would say those Tables fromD6 to D7 could be modified in a way that won't allow for backwards compatiability. But ALPHA sets nothing in stone, so I could be wrong ;)
