Show an "please upgrade" page?

Hi,

some thing I am still struggling with Dolphin is the uograde for memberships. The site is working well so far, but I am looking for something, that allow me to show links to members (or guests) but redirect them to a page (join/upgrade) where I can list the advantages of membership/upgrade. Actually all they get is "access denied" or some weird error message, that they don't allowed to do X. Also I can just find the checkbox to hide a link to a certain group (guests/members) but not that I can show the button/link but they don't have access.

I saw this feature on some Dolphin sites (like http://tcn.uk.com/search.php - you can see the link to Members > Search on top but when you click it, you get the image to upgrade) and I wonder if its a module or some settings I haven't figured out yet.

mh I am stupid thats its so easy or noone has an idea to do it?

I found this post http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/#topic/Need-help-redirecting-tabs-to-join-php-for-non-members.htm

and its really close to mine, at least for the non members. The mentioned code for the browse.php works fine, but every sub-menu of the browse.php is still accessible :(

Also no solution for different membership levels.

No, the mod is mostly a new administration interface which makes some thinks more easy or accessible maybe.

I know already how to make blocks visible for members or how to grant permission on some things.

All I don't know is how to display a link to function XYZ but redirect the member if they aren't allowed to view this. Actually all non-accessible links/blocks are not shown.

I would really like to know the answer to this one as well. In almost any dating site you go to if you do not have the membership privlige to use a paticular function then you are shown a pop up with upgrade options or directed to the upgrade page. It seems that it would be easy to do if you know what you are doing. I mean whatever it is that calls up the sign to show up access denied, cant that be replaced to call up a pop up or a redirect?

just bumpin this. Does anyone know of a mod that will do this or where to edit this to get a pop up or redirect?

I've seen it on many Dolphin sites like http://tcn.uk.com or http://www.planetagor.pl but looks like noone likes to share this secret with us Scott ;)

Ok, I'm just learning this stuff but from looking at the edits I do for other mods and teaks for adding special features I would have to guess that to add this would not just be one edit. I would have to edit some line of code for every mod that I want a redirect from if the user does not have that privlage. Is this correct?

Even if you dont give the process of how to do this can someone please answer this for me? Just out of curiosity and trying to understand how the script works.

Hey trunky. Thought you might like the answer on how to do this. Go to this tread http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/?action=goto&my_threads=1#topic/ACCESS-IS-FORBIDDEN-Message.htm

Hi Scott,

thanks for the link, I have noticed the topic already and changed the community a bit. I've created a file (attached) which simply checks if the user is logged in or not. For both possibilities the standard redirection (set in the admin preferences) apply. Its not perfect yet but a bit better than before (having already more subscriptions).

PS: forgot to mention that I use the javascript from the other thread pointing to the attached upgrade.php

upgrade.php · 1.3K · 66 downloads

i am certain this can be done with a php block

but do not currently have the time to work out the code but you might start by finding out the php for the hello guest function place in a php block and place a picture with text and a hyper link to the join page ,,,

and I think I am correct that you can generate html code in the language files so where it says sorry you do not have permission to veiw this content you should be able to place at least a link to join page ..

happy thoughts
