Simple Messenger Not Working?

Hi

I have simple messenger installed and the membership levels are set to use it

But how is it supposed to work?

At the moment when a member is online I go to their profile and enter a message in chat

the member can see a flashing box next to the dashboard links but now what?

clicking on the box does nothing? is there supposed to be a popup window or something?

I reinstalled the emoji-picker plugin that I uninstalled last week and everything works again now
