Site mod thumbnails.

Ok, I posted this on the bug side but wanted to put it here just in case it needed a little discussion or someone could help me resolve it.

The site mod is supposed to use an outside website to go to the url once it's been entered and submit is clicked to create a thumbnail for the entry.

When you enter the URL and click submit, it takes you to the next page and no thumbnail is displayed.

If you hit the refresh button and reload the details page, the thumbnail image mysteriously appears at which time you can complete the page, click submit again and the site post with the thumbnail image is successful.

If you do NOT refresh the page and force the thumbnail image to appear, then the post is made without the image. You cannot go back and fix it or force the image to be created after the fact. The only recourse is to use the upload feature and place an image in the ad or just delete it and try again.

I know to hit the refresh button but my members do not and almost every site that is added does not successfully produce the thumbnail.

when entering the site name try it without http:// or www. just enter sitename.com see if it works

Nope. already aware of that trick.... It's not that it can't find the URL, it's the fact that the process of going to the other site, ordering the image, the other site getting the capture and compressing it and providing it back to my site, then my site posting it to the details page is flawed. Somewhere, it's not waiting for it, if it's not ready when it asks, it just continues on without it.

Does that make any sense?

I know, it's been driving me batty. I can sit there and do it over and over again and it never fails but as soon as a member tries it, it fails. I can't explain it. It has done it to me before a couple times and a refresh of the details page always made it show up. Like I said, If the image is ready, it appears, if it's not, the script just passes over it and it does not appear unless you refresh when you notice it missing. What I did notice is the thumbnail box that holds the image is also missing. If you don't know it's supposed to be there and it doesn't appear, you won't be able to tell anything is wrong.
