Spammers or crackers attack or problem with a Boonex software bug?

Hi all! I have a problem with the deletion of the spammers. How it goes! At the Members section the new members are gathering on a list. On our site I wish to have only members with a specific interest on what we do. At the same time we avoid to register spammers and shop dealers (we have regular attacks especially from Chinese companies). For this reason we screen all our potential members. As a result when the administrator arrives at the members section he screens the potential members, bans the spammers and then sends a polite though straight letter to the email addresses of the spammers.

Now here is the problem we have:
At the members section of our admin we can choose to enter to either
All, unconfirmed , approval or active or etc. Let’s say we choose to enter the unconfirmed potential members or the approval potential members. We screen the members and we choose who is a person with an interest on us and who is a spammer. Therefore we authorize the firsts and we ban the others. When ever we ban a spammer his/hers address becomes red then we tick the box on our left side of our screen. Then we choose to delete them but when we choose this option see what happens:

First: We delete the spammers red address… but nothing happens
Second: We refresh the page by clicking the bended arrow button on the right side of the www. address browser.
Third: As a result the page changes and it automatically send us without us asking for it to the All members section.

Note: at the all members section the first left choose box is automatically ticked with out us doing something – apart from choosing to delete a spammer - .
Example if we choose to delete one spammer as a result one member will be chosen to be deleted from our members section. If we choose to delete 4 spammers then as a result four members of our members will be ticked to be deleted as well. So what we do is we “un-choose” the ticked box or boxes that has been automatically chosen. And we start all over again in order to delete other spammers. The funny thing among the others is that we can delete only one spammer at the time. What is also difficult, is that if we do not “un-choose” the ticked box at the all members section when we go to delete more spammers we also delete automatically our members. It happened before and we had to create new accounts for administrators and members and this is a waste of time.

Anyone has any idea? What should we do?

You'll find spammers don't read their emails. You should try the anti-spam tools in the administration panel, which might help lower the amount of spam registrations.

As for your problem, I don't really follow what it is you're trying to do, or what problem you're having.

it is simple when ever a spammer registers what happens is that when I try to delete him I also delete automatically one or more of my own members starting from the Administrator. At the same time the members admin section only allows me to delete only one spammer at the time. Therefore I have to go to C pannel if i wish to get rid of them all together and once for all. and spammers never end to enter. anyway i will try the antispam programmes offered.

Hey Nathan thank you for your reply.

thanks again

Pan

Sounds to me like you have a problem with your admin panel.

I can select multiple members to delete and it deletes only the ones i select. If you can't do that then your admin panel is not working correctly.

You may need to get someone to look at it. I have never heard of this problem.

I should ask what browser you are using. If it's google chrome, then don't. To many people have had various weird problems with the admin and google chrome. Use firefox while in admin.

Also, sending anything back to a spammer is a bad practice. As nathan pointed out, they don't read their emails but as Nathan did NOT point out, they surely keep a record of any valid email addresses they come across. This only leads to more spam.

I have mine set to manual and I get very few spam signups now. Just add their IP to the ban list and delete them, never send them anything.

His email would already be recorded, unless he was using a different one when contacting them (which would be idiotic).
