Special Charakters disapear

If I type a text, for example while changing the language words in the admin panel and I use words with special german charcters like ä ö ü or ß the word and text ends at theplace, the charakter was typed.

For example:

I want to change the field "change password" into "passwort ändern" there will be only "passwort"

i would help my self with using descritions without these caharkters, but the users of the website should be able to use them. (Same problem if I try to change description of a block)

Any Info, that could be helpfull?????

Did you check if your LocalizationStrings database table is set to UTF8 ?

Mine is set to utf8_general_ci and I don't have any problem with accentuated french, spanish... characters.

If the settings of your database table are right but still don't work...

Did you try to type the hexadecimal code for your special charater ? What happen ? (ä=ä - ß=ß - ...)

The Database-Table is set to UTF8 general ci, the same as yours

if i type the hexa-code, it is shown exactly as I typed it in the description of the blog

Is your MySQL version 4.1.2 or higher ?

I checked on my site (Dolphin 6.1.1) and don't have any problem with german characters...

We have dealt with this a few times as well, and as MichelSwiss stated, do make sure you are using MySQL 4.1.2 +

I guess I will try to install it all new again if i don't find the mistake
