Status button

I am trying to change the online/offline button in the homepage (the little yellow or grey dot on the upper right corner of the pic) and I just can't figure it out.  I got the one on the floating menu bar, and I am just about to give up.  See attachment

Are you looking for the image itself?

templates/base/images/icons/sys_status_offline.png

templates/base/images/icons/sys_status_online.png

OK I replaced those png files with my little fire helmet and changed the filenames to match and nothing... still the same after I clear the cache and reload the page.

Yes the firehelmets are renamed sys_status_offline.png and sys_status_online.png and the pics are reformatted from jpg to png.

I am lost here

Do the png files have to be interlaced?

Are you clearing cache and cache_public via FTP manually (leave .htaccess)?

A little related thing.

I am trying to change my status, but it does not change.
Once, it changed to busy and worked, but now it is always this way.
I don´t want to clean the cache, because it is supposed to worked for me and everybody without performing it.

note:
1-  after change the presence status, the page reloads but nothing changes.
2- I tried IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.  The same "busy" status there.  Can´t be the cache issue.
