Houstonlively made a great observation in another post about a way to gain some serious bandwidth. I pulled the topic out of that thread (which is out of control again) and started it here.
I like the idea of H264 but I do not think it's going to add much to the basic Dolphin setup. The whole idea of HD Video streaming using H264 (in my opinion) has some serious shortfalls for the average sitebuilder. The requirements for bandwidth for a Dolphin site to deliver HD content of any size will be out of reach for most and trying to make use of the technology without the proper support will only result in total failure.
I am researching the possibilities with the provider Houstonlively found.

A low cost way to provide enough bandwidth to properly deliver the video. The comment was made that several Dolphin site builders could get together and pool their resources to lease one of these servers. They'd have a 1 Gbit setup that is very reasonable.
By looking at the setup stuff, you can use any OS you want, CentOS, FreeBSD, all the different windows. I mean it's really dramatic. The whole thing is scalable all the way up to a 20 server package for $14,999 a month! (lol, I only WISH!). This 1 gig starter package is only $399.
With the cost of professional 1080p cameras now down to less than $4000, creating truly great content that rivals what the big corporations (news agencies, etc) make is within reach of guys like you and me and I for one, really want to take advantage of it.
Anyone interested?
