Structure and content restore from previous beta?

Does anyone know if it is possible to do a structure and content restore from beta 7 to beta 8?  - or do we have to throw away all our work again?  Also, how would you go about transferring profile photos and avatars?  I really, really, really, really wish Boonex would provide some minimal help on issues like this,  but since they never do could some knowledgeable person here give some advice on what we might be able to salvage from our D7B7 installs - via individual table restores, etc.

You could try dumping all ids from bx_avatar_images to your new beta 8 bx_avatar_images table and of course the profiles table records.  Technically all you would need to then do would be to re-upload your modules photos and modules avatars folders, however this isn't something I have tried as I didn't have much success with the import script until I started using B8.

Does anyone know, if I do a "structure" restore from B7 to B8 (as opposed to a "content and structure" restore) - will that carry over the extensions?  Or will I need to reinstall the extensions?  Put another way, if I do a structure restore from a site with the extensions installed, will that go away - that is take on the configuration of the system I am restoring from?  I'm not sure if it will work, but I am going to try it.
