Several years ago there was talk of this and a mod developed for free but that is no longer offered. It was for an older version. There is this, https://www.boonex.com/m/likes, it's similar and shows who else "likes" the subject. ManOfTeal.COM a Proud UNA site, six years running strong! |
The star rating is a mean of the votes. With thumbs it would be a simple count of those that gave it a thumb up. Geeks, making the world a better place |
The reason is because while using a mobile device, you have to tap the star twice to enable it, most people will tap it once and see all 5 stars lit up and think they voted. So just a thumbs up would be better. |
So just a thumbs up would be better.
Can you not use the FB "like" that is already used on media pages? You can edit these template pages to remove the stars and replace with the FB like. (one with a counter) Problem with these types of changes, upgrades can overwrite these. If your not keeping track of those it can be a headache further down the road. In your opinion...NOT in mine. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
wish Boonex would put things up for a vote before they just changed things for the folks that think being just like Facebook is what Everyone wants to do. And how did you have this in mind? By people rating the idea somewhere between 1 and 5, or just a simple yes/no? The point is that in some cases the rating is better, in other cases a like is sufficient or even better. I believe a like for things like wall events is sufficient, but probably not when rating a photo/video/etc. Dedicated servers for as little as $32 (28 euro) - See http://denre.com for more information |

What if I took an opinion poll where the only answer was 'Yes'? If you didn't want to answer 'Yes'... too bad... just don't vote.
I take it, this concept makes sense to you?
Hey... the results of the poll are in! Everybody said 'Yes"!!! My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
Maybe also ask for buttons for people who don't have an opinion or don't wan't to express theirs. It's all about user interaction and I believe people are more likely to click a "like button" than to rate something on a wall. That a like button is insufficient for rating videos/photos/etc. I already mentioned that.
Nevertheless, either is better than what we have now!

I have said this before but hell, I will say it again. If you are going to have a like button, there should be a dislike button. Yes, 2000 people may have liked your photo of your kitten but 200000 may have disliked it. Geeks, making the world a better place |
I've noticed many (if not most) of the "likes" on facebook have become more of an acknowledgement of someone's comment rather than actually liking what they posted, so the value of a "like" from most people has been greatly diluted. It's really hard to believe that anyone can really "like" the 10th or 20th "LOL!" on a single post. 7.3.5 with responsive UNI |

It's all about dumbing things down these days. The mindless action of clicking a like button is so much easier than the frightening experience of deciding between 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 stars. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
