URGENT! where the profile photos are pulled from?

anyone? i donno the structure of a boonex setup, please help... please!

Need to repair my photos, cause after migration to another server, they are just not showing up!

yes, checked permissions!

Quote · 27 Jan 2010

Are you sure you checked permissions?

Is media/images/ set to 777

is media/images/folder set to 777.  It should be ALL of them except or Flags and Smiles (which should be 755)

I'm betting it's your media/images/profile_bg that is not set right, but you should check them all.  And yes, perms do need reset after you move to a new server.  All of them.

Also, is the new host recognizing the Triple 6 & 7 perms?  Some don't allow them so they fake you out by letting it show set that way when it's really not.  Bad hosts.

Someone has the solution to this.  He needs the file permissions list.

The site was moved to a new server, I took a peek via FTP and every folder is back to 755 & 644.  I can't seem to find that list of file perms someone did.  Anyone have it that can post it in here for him.  He needs it for the base install and all the modules.

You got those somewhere Magna?

Hey, give me the guy's set-up information (web server set-up, not account), five hours and a keg-full of carbonated water and I can replicate his environment to determine the permission values.

I'm also glad to know that there is at least a thin line between living and being thrown out the window.

I think a great big Man-hug is in order.

Don't bet on that just yet.

We do have all the perms set correctly now.

Cleared out the caches.

Managed to get into (figured out with the OP the login) Admin Panel.

However, we are still pulling 403 errors when you click a profile/image and so on.  Double checked, the .htaccess is there.  I'm wondering, is the mod_rewrite enabled on this thing?  Can you answer that OP, because this is getting really annoying.

Quote · 27 Jan 2010

So we have made some headway on this ball of bailing wire.  Where are we?

Well, it was a move by JCTWebsites from a dedicated to the current server it's on from my understanding.  DNS was not resolved and had to be accessed via IP.  Okay, that's not to bad, we can work with that one.  But we had no resolve on profiles anything.

Reset all the file permissions, uninstalled and re-installed the modules and the site is starting to want to function.  Meaning the profiles & accounts are resolving.  Had to kill the permalinks to it too.

Now, instead of a 403 or 404 error, we are getting a 500 error on the photos/avatars/videos/sounds and I think you get the picture.  It's 3:44 AM here my time and I am crashing out.

All who have an idea of this site, please kick in with suggestions that we can try.  The OP is hanging around and I'm sure he'll answer questions if you have them.  I'm strongly thinking that AlexT should be taking a look at this as it's really looking like a misconfigured server the more and more I review it.

Yep, SuPHP initiates an internal self-destruct mode when it encounters the following: .htaccess files with php_flag values, and access to files with permissions of six-six-six or seven-seven-seven from anywhere except the server itself.

Gotta' love it.

But wouldn't that give a 500 Error when trying to load the site at all? It did for me when I had a host that enabled suPhP on me. I couldn't even access the homepage at all..

Well, on one of the hosts I used that had SuPHP, it wouldn't pay attention to the php_flag values in the .htaccess file, but did pay full attention to the file permissions. But, it doesn't add-up that the profiles page (and others) would be doing that, then.

I remember about getting 500 Internal server error when they first transfered my website from sharing to a dedicated server. I couldn't load the site at all. So Chris is right I quess, although I'm a newbie in this one.

Further more, there was this media not loading at all issue too, so they "fixed" it, and here's the answer I've got at that point:

"Here is the problem with your site, it's not the database:
[Tue Jan 26 13:52:16 2010] [error] [client 24.144.153.151] SoftException in Application.cpp:256: File "/home/randevu/public_html/flash/modules/mp3/skins/index.php" is writeable by group

Because you are running suPHP, your files and folders cannot be group/world writeable. I have repaired this now for you. Please check once more."

Still there was problem with playing sounds because of the permissions. They just kept loading... The website was running very slow. I've had it "over there" and JCTwebsite move it to his server but still there are some of this issues mydatery is trying to fix them for me, cause I'm like Alice in wonderland when it comes to those thing. I will learn in time, but anyway, it takes time... and now, most important is to get that website running asap.

Propagation has finished...

It looks like .htaccess file is missing or is different from the original. Please try to restore original .htaccess file from the package.

If it doesn't help then try to add the following string below RewriteEngine on string:

RewriteBase /~randevu/

NOTE: you will need to change or remove this string when your domain will be completely resolved and you will change header.inc.php file according to this.

Quote · 28 Jan 2010

Did you move from a server NOT running suphp to one that IS running suphp?  You haven't come right out and said that.  If you are running suphp, then all directories should be 755 and all files should be 644.  (ffmpeg.exe  should be 755)

If you migrated from a server not running suphp to one that IS running suphp, I'd suggest checking that the ownership of all the files is set to the proper user and not '99'.... if not, you'll need to do a recursive chown on all the files and folders.

If you are not running suphp, disregard this entire post.

Quote · 28 Jan 2010

Not realizing that he may have been running suPHP I set his files to 777 & 666 as they're supposed to be in a conventional environment and then disabled Permalinks on the site.

That cured the issue of the profiles not showing up.  Up until that point it was throwing a 403 Error out like crazy for anything/everything that you tried to do on it beyond the hard url's.  It would show the yoursite.com/browse.php but it would not show a profile for instance.

At that point it began to display the profiles and images, but when you clicked on an image/video/sound file it did a 500 Error on it.

My suggestion would be to have your host reset the permissions via SSH back to 755 & 644 and leave the permalinks disabled, this should clear up your issues finally.  It'll take them a few minutes to do it where it's about 20 minutes to do it by hand in FTP.

Please. :(

Quote · 28 Jan 2010

It's also very important to make sure there are NO files owned by default apache user '99'!   IF you are running suphp... and you have yet to answer that... do a recursive chown on the public_html directory to make sure your user account has ownership of all files and directories (once all the files and folders are in place, that is)

the site should have been tarballed and moved, since this would hold the file permissions. if you are moving from one cPanel environment to another, you can use the move API that will hold the file permissions for you. if you do not know how to move a site, you shouldnt be making those attempts. and when you cant answer questions to those who are helping, you cant expect much help.

you were informed by Dolphin_Jay of a good hosting company that would have a setup that would work with Dolphin, and you opted for one that is not proven, obviously to save a nickel. the nickel you have saved has now cost you a blue-zillion times more, but by golly you saved that nickel.

This is one of the longer running attempts at helping someone we have on here.  I think it goes to show how much people are working to try to figure this one out.  Just so you know, so far:

Myself,

JCTWebsites,

VictorT

AlexT,

Magnasoft

HoustonLively

Stuart038

Prolaznik

and of course

Zarcon

And others I'm sure, have jumped in here and at some point to figure this site out.  We still don't know for sure if this is an suPHP environment or a conventional php environment server, which is one huge thing in the way.  But we have also had JCT and others look at this.  I know personally that Boonex has given some support on this thing (You can see the posts from AlexT) on it and still no solution.

Question: Who is the host that this server is with?  Yeah, I could look up the NS1, but I'm to lazy at this moment.

Note:  There must be something more to this story to get that response out of DD that I'm not aware of.   What I will say is this thread has shown some awesome support from the forums, members & Boonexers.

Curious:  Could he do a fresh install then set a copy of his DB Back-up on that?  Just curious, never tried it myself.

It's not about the savings for gods sake! I got a dedicated server for 200$ a month, but even the techs from that hosting company didn't do right the migration from the shared account to the new one. So, it's not about money at all!

That's why I moved to another one, more reliable ... I'm sick of their lies, must admit. Can you imagine, after 2 hours using the dedicated server they recommended to me, they came up with another proposal for "more powerful one"!!! Geeze... I think I would sue someone...

The only decent hosting providers I've met so far are terabyte-hosting.com and dolphininstalls.net! at least they are honest and not hiding anything. What you see is what you get! Bravo!

As for others, no comment. I won't even name "those", cause they don't deserve it!

Well, that would explain everything.

Wait, what's that, boy? Timmy's trapped in a well? And what's that? The sounds won't play? Well, I can't help with Timmy, but I might be able to help with the sound issue. Make sure the permission levels for the directories and files pertaining the the sound module are not at either seven-seven-seven or six-six-six. On SuPHP servers, this could cause an issue.

Well, either that your you have one of the required settings for PHP turned off.
