Unregister/PayPay

Hello all! I know when a user unregisters their account they delete their profile membership. But my question is if I have a PayPal set up for members and they sign up for reoccrring membership will their reoccurring membership payment for PayPal stop as well?

Thanks!

No.  They have to go in and cancel they're recurring membership.

To their PayPal account? Then they won't have to unregister they would just go to PayPal and cancel their reoccuring payment on their PayPal account?

I believe it is two separate issue from canceling the paypal payments and not being a member on your site anymore. Its a bit like when you have something from the bank when you pay it monthly on direct debit or something, you can cancel the service, but you have to then go to the bank and cancel the payments too, or rather the member does from thier own PP account

Yes, I was thinking about that after I posted. So if they cancel their reoccuring account for my site on their PayPal account, they would still be a member on my site until they unregister? Meaning they would still have membership. At least until the anniversary date of signing up and paying their initialmembership. I thought I saw a MOD for this but I can't find it, so that very issue wouldn't come up.

Im not sure what is it you are worried about here. Is it a member signing up and paying via paypal, then canceling the paypal but still being a member, or is it them  unregestering and still having paypal funds taken out of their accounts.

There's not a lot you can do really about the first one because if they have paid for a years membership then they are entitled to be a member until renewal time, even if they cancel the recurring part before hand.

The second problem is easy to solve, you just have to contact the member and tell them they must cancel the subscription from paypal or payments will continue.

For that to need a mod, then i must be missing the point somewhere.

Tyke and other folks:

I am only setting my paid membership as monthly reoccuring payments via PayPal. If a member wants to cancel their reoccurring monthly payment. They can do that via PayPal. The other part is that wouldn't take effect until their monthly anniversary when they signed up on PayPal occurs. And the part I am concerned about is when their cancelled membership takes affect that they should not have paid membership priviledges on my site. As I am just about to launch my site, I want to make sure that part works instead of trying to fix that potential problem, if it occurred, when I should have checked and tested it beforehand.

I am not getting into 3, 6, 12 monthly membership payments yet.

I am asking this because I know a lot of you know how this process works and it's the first time for me doing this. Thanks!

Philly, here to help out with this, sorry if it was unclear when we stated it before.

1.  You have set up recurring monthly payments for your site, therefore the members paypal account will be billed each month for use of your site.

2.  Say a member wishes to quit:

    A) They cancel with you and they also go to paypal and cancel, that is the proper way to do it.

    B) They cancel with you and forget to cancel w/paypal.  Paypal will continue to bill them for the service.

    C) They cancel with Paypal and NOT you.  Your system will send them reminders and suspend the account when the payment does not show up from paypal and the account expires.  Your system will send them a reminder that they need to pay via paypal and so on to get access back to their account.  It can do this 1 time or 1 million times depending on how you set it up in the Admin Panel to send the reminders.
