Upgrade 7.0.6 to 7.0.9 or wait for 8?

Hi,

I need advice. My current install of Dolphin is 7.0.6. At the time of installing and configuring I have worked, and changed a lot of source files of both dolphin and add-ons. I did not document this.

1) for security reasons, I'm willing to upgrade to dolphin 7.0.9 if Dolphin 8 is going to wait for some time.
2) the upgrade should, aside from improvement of the site, not be noticed by the users. (all fixes, changes, etc must be implemented into 1 add-on, and must be documented)

I have 3 people at my disposal who are all equally unfamiliar with the closed framework and inconsequent coding of boonex.

What do I do?

Wait for 8?

Thanks

Actually if you site is stable and  highly customized you dont need to upgrade. But if you fell like you want to try make sure you have a full backup. For version 8 its a very different view you can wait or play around with  7.0.9.

Instead you can install fresh every version you like for new site.Laughing

You should at least upgrade the portions which include security fixes.  But as for waiting for v8, that's not recommended, since the wait would be pretty long.

<rabble rabble rabble you should have documented changes rabble rabble>.  Yeah, that's said a lot, but it's true.  You would have saved a lot of time if you at least documented which files were edited.  But it might be too difficult to upgrade if the changes are so large.
