Which means that even if it were released today, it would still be at least 5 or 6 weeks before we could even start our own upgrades and testing.  That is still not what I would call the "soon" or "close" they have been saying for at least six months.  I think Boonex wants to have a "knock out punch" - i.e. a version that is so fantastic we will all be giving each other high fives and complementing ourselves on being so patient.  I hope this is the case, but other software companies aren't sitting around, and the natives are getting restless over on the Boonex blog post: http://www.boonex.com/unity/blog/entry/It_s_close_but_ Their idea that their environmental activism was more important than the new software roll-out was NOT well received - to say the least.  I really, really want to stick with Dolphin but people are starting to talk about alternatives - who can blame them?  I just learned about these guys this morning:  http://www.elgg.org

Which of those is open source?  Elgg is the only one I have found that has a creative commons license.  It is newer than Dolphin but seems to have a ton of plug-ins and mods.  It also has a feature I just love - a "form builder" that allows you to collect and post data unrelated to profiles - does anyone know if 7 will have anything like that?  What other systems are people looking at as a contingency in case D& doesn't work properly - or just never happens?
