Upgrade Path from Dolphin 6.1.6?

While I installed several months ago, I have not been able to solve the Shoutbox never loading, (and other aspects not needed to mention here). But Now I would like to really launch my site for my local community and very much want to use Dophin. I am excited about the new 7. Installation of 6.1.6 was not the easiest, and I am hoping I do not have to start from scratch. I am on a VPS Apache 2.3 Linux box with cPanel. I have limited shell access, but unlimited everything.

What is the upgrade path -- are there some instructions somewhere, help anyone? I wrote to one of the Agents some days back about this and looking for development help as well, but never heard back.

Thanks for your help!

If you have a unmodified 6.1.6 you can use the build in migrator from D7.
But if you have done code changes or installed mods, then you can better install 100% fresh.

Maby some of them are on vacation after released D7 :)

Hi I do have 6.1.6 unmodified. Where do I start here? Happy to hear about the migrator :-) Should I unzip offline and copy things up-- and THEN run the Migrator from the web?  Can you point me to where there are Migration / Upgrade directions, please?

Thanks

Its real real easy.

1 backup everything. D6 files/db...everything

2make sure D6 is running in root or public_html

3 install D7 in folder named "7" by creating new database and the whole nine yards like you did with dolphin 6 i have some ssh lines for putty on my site if you need them. You now have two versions running perfect side by side. one at www.site.com and one at www.site.com/7

4 login to 7 as admin and install all modules by checking all and then install/ you will have to do it 2x

5 do your data migration after that...please take the time to learn where everything is...this is your new job...take it seriously.

Doesnt go well? delete everything and start over.

Hi

Migrating from Version 6.1.6 to version 7 is all mentioned above. But can you please tell me  when we upgrade, does it carry all standard information like profile, forum, blog, friends list to new version?

This is really urgent..

Please reply
