Upgrade assistance needed.

Hello,

I have a client with a site running 6.0.3 CLEAN R1-157. According to Boonex support this is an old branch created of their v6 Dolphin by an independent group. My client wants to upgrade to the new Dolphin version and move to a new hosting company.

If you are a Dolphin developer interested in giving a quote to help with this upgrade process please email me at crabe1969@gmail.com.

The major concern is with the integrity of the current user data as the user data is migrated. I would hope that this could be accomplished with just a few hours of work.

If anyone has questions or comments about this job please reply to this forum post.

Thank you.

Since this is not a Dolphin version released by Boonex, there could be problems with the upgrade.  I will send you an email since we can not exchange PMs.

I would not count on that.   First of all, I only see a 6.1.6 to 7.0 upgrade and you are not at version 6.1.6; you are at Dolphin 6.0.x modified by a third party.  There have been a lot of upgrades to Dolphin since 6.0.

Yes, this would be neither easy nor cheap. You'd need to run an upgrade to each subsequent version normally, but I don't know if those patches are even still around. And not to mention that this has been heavily modified from stock Dolphin, which I can tell alone based on the CLEAN mark. Your best bet would be to try and import whatever data you can.

I managed to upgrade this old 6.0 clean site to the current Dolphin Pro 7.2.1 using the Boonex migration module.  I had to do some rewrites of the scripts in the module to make them work.  The end result was that I spent a lot of time on the migration that I could not charge for but I felt good in the end because I helped someone move forward with Dolphin Pro.  We had someone else to come in with an old Dolphin 6.0 site and they ended up moving to another platform.  I wish I had stepped in and worked on that person's site because I hate to see people leaving Dolphin over upgrade issues.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
