User login multiple sites.

In order for me to get the functionlaity I wanted, I had to duplicate the site with separate databases.

i.e. cars = mysite/cars   bikes = mysite/bikes  boats = mysite/boats.

All are on the same server but are separate installs with separate DB but idetical in every other way.

I want my users to be able to log into any site and have user access to all sites once logged in.

I know your time is valuable so $40 to the person who can *show* me how to do this. You don't have to do the work just tell me how to get it done. PM me.

There have been some talk before on this.  How are you currently registering users across all sites?  Did you modify the join so that it updates the database in all the sites?  What about the profile updates across all the sites?  Dolphin maintains user sessions using cookies; you would have to modify the sessions so that the cookie can be used across all sites, and that all sites would update the cookie accordingly when the user logs out of any of the sites.  I don't have details to give you or if it is even possible for it to work.  I have better luck searching the forum with Google or Bing, so that is my suggestion to see if you can find the previous discussions on this.

Thanks for the info geek_girl. I have been googling my fingers off without much luck. As far as users logging in goes, they log in from whichever site they originally signed up with. How would I edit the join so that it updates all of the databases? Better yet, could the profile and user info be held on one DB which all of the sites could call to for user credentials keeping them active until the log out from any one of the sites?

There is a mod that will duplicate members across multiple sites. It is a bit pricey - but it works. http://www.boonex.com/m/Cross_Database_Profile_Synchronization
