Various Orca problems

I've been setting up a new install of Dolphin, and I've come across a few problems with Orca. I have tried a few searches to see if there are fixes, but none of the suggestions which came up seem relevant. Any assistance is appreciated.

I have tried clearing the cache and public_cache folders, and carried out more reinstalls than I care to count.

The first issue seems to be a problem with using SSL together with Orca. No matter what I tried (or what URL I tried), the any other aspect of Dolphin. The errors that come up when trying to use any management link are:

'orca_admin' is undefined
'Forum' is undefined

I finally abandoned the SSL path out of frustration, and am now using plain http for the time being. I would like to get SSL working at some point but couldn't face any more time trying to work out what was failing. It now seems to be working, but whenever I create a group or forum I get an error that 'Group could not be created' or 'Forum could not be created'. They are actually created, but these errors come up so that I need to shut down the browser and log back in every time I create a group in order to work with them.

I would be very grateful for any ideas or suggestions people might have.
