Does Vbulletin actually integrate into Dolphin as the features say? If so does anyone have instructions as I cannot find them. I have searched this site and I have not found anything on it. Thanks in advance!!

Thanks in advance!! Boonex should edit the features page on this site. I know of no vBulletin integration. I did find a half-baked IPB integration, but the author (some guy in switzerland) seems to have abandoned it before it was complete.
I've suggested to Boonex on several occassions, that they just ditch Orca, and provide integrations to third party forum scripts such as PhpBB3, MyBB, vBulletin, and IPB. Orca is so far behind any of those scripts, I don't think it can ever catch up. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
Wow...I hope this isnt the case as I have already purchased Vbulletin on the basis that the integration is listed as a feature on the boonex site. Thanks for the info. |
I'm afraid it is the case. I guess I never read the features page that closely before, or I would have called bullsh*t on that one. Looks to me like Boonex owes you a vBulletin integration. I'd be using vBulletin my self had I been able to find an integration. but all I found was that IPB integration that I mentioned. so the vbull.aemod is completely useless? |

Yes. If anyone can prove otherwise, I'll retract that answer. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
You are correct sir...just talked to someone at boonex support. They killed off vbull.aemod a few versions back of dolphin. Hopefully I can find someone reputable to buid me a module. |
If you do find such a person, I might be another customer for such a mod. I'm patiently waiting for Dolphin 7 to be released, to see if the code structure has improved. I really don't think the changes in Dolphin 7 are going to be as dramatic as everybody thinks. From the little bit of info I've been able to gather on my own, Dolphin 7 adds a wall feature, fixes as many bugs in 6.1.4 as possible, and is probably re-skinned. Boonex can put all the lipstick on this pig that they want, but until they work on some core issues like profile privacy settings and add photo albums, Dolphin sites will still be missing functionalities that are commonplace in the rest of the social networking world. Probably the most used feature on social networking giants like Myspace and Facebook, is photo albums, yet Dolphin lacks this basic feature. The second most used feature on Myspace and Facebook, is members categorizing other members as friends, and through privacy setting being able allow friends to view their content, while restricting access to all others..... still Dolphin has no profile privacy settings. I would be very disappointed if Dolphin 7 didn't introduce these 2 fundamental features that the social networking world is so accustomed to. As mush as I like the streaming video features of Dolphin, if Dolphin 7 doesn't bring these 2 very basic features, I will likely drop this script like a hot potato. I hope that doesn't happen, because it will mean that I've wasted 2 or 3 months of my time. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
Hyboost, be extremely cautious about making decisions about Dolphin based on its feature list, or even features you think you see in the product. Boonex has had a history of putting features in Dolphin that don't work properly - or even don't work at all. I think they sometimes do this with the intent that they will "fix it" in the next version - we have found several examples of this on these forms. One big example is the RMS stuff - a few here have got it to work but it takes some real expertise. Rob - p.s. If it is any consulation, the plugin for phpBB doesn't work either - at least not with the current verions. I agree with Houston's comments about Orca, but from what I have read it will be even more tightly integrated into Dolphin 7. |
