Video Comments Not Working

The video comments feature does not seem to work. Is there a trick to getting this to function? If, it turns out I can't get it to work, is there a way to turn the video comments feature off?

I've always heard the server you are on has to allow the ports that RMS uses in order for video comments to function: 1935, 1936, 5080 (default ports)

The hosting plan I am on is claimed to be a Dolphin hosting plan. How about disabling video comments altogether. Is there an admin setting or a hack for that?

I see you're having a lot of issues. Who are you hosted with, and did you use an automated installer? Regarding this issue, a Dolphin hosting plan does not necessarily mean that RMS is included. If you do not have RMS installed on the server, you cannot use video/audio communication. You can purchase RMS hosting from several providers for a monthly fee, though.

The video comments feature allow you to record and save the file. The comments folder, check whether it's correct. It should enable the user to save. It needs to be CHMOD to "755". If your server hosting ask you to change to "777" don't do it. Also check whether you have RMS set up in Flash - Chat module under settings. Make sure all the ports are correct.

I just contacted HostFor Web about configuring the RMS for my site. That said that should take care of the video comments issue as well as everything related to video. Does that sound right?

And, you are correct. I have posted some other issues, like the wall module not working properly and the status update at the top of the profile page not working. I assume though, that those issues have nothing to do with RMS. Is that right?

I have since come across other reports of the wall issue. So I guess I should assume it is just a lingering bug.

Besides RMS automatically being configured, is there any other advantage to using the host's installer? I really hope not because I installed manually and have made some customizations I would hate to have to do over. HostForWeb support said that, other that RMS, there was no difference.

That should clear up all RMS-related issues (audio/video communication, video comments, etc.). I recommend you check your file/directory permissions and make sure they're in line in case that's having adverse affects on the wall and status issues.

I never recommend using automated installers, as I've found them to cause more issues than a manual installation. For example, I found one host's installation of Softaculous to include a corrupted copy of Dolphin.

I am extremely glad to hear you recommend manual installation.

When I installed, the script showed all file permissions as correct. Should I trust that? If no, is there a list of file permissions list available that I could use for checking?

Should the wall show posts by the logged in users and all friends? Mine does not.
