Hi there, Ive just discovered BOONEX and think it could be what Im looking for!
Was developing something on NING but this just seems to put more control in my hands ;-)
However, after only a days use (so could be a rooky oversight...), I cant get videos to upload!
The whole upload process seems to work, either using flash and normal upload process. Have tried with MOV and FLV so far...
Only thing is, after the upload gets to the end, the screen returns to the regular vid section screen in admin but the video is nowhere to be seen.
The video folder in the user account remains empty and there are stil zero vids in the site admin.
Do I have to enable something in admin or do I have something else going on???
Site was installed using script install on the server (one of BOONEX recomeded hosts) so should be installed correctly etc...
any help much appreciated!!!
Thanks - Tim

Videos don't generally appear instantly after upload. Processing is done by the cron jobs. So if the videos never show up, first check in admin and see if you have to approve them. Admin -> Modules -> Videos. Otherwise it might be a cron problem.

Thanks Deano. All the vid settings appear to be correct to auto enable (default).
Guess the cron job would have to be set on the server, although I would have thought it would be set up for it as its a recomended host for Dolphin!
Will check it out.
Any idea on what I would have to set it to?
Thanks - Tim

There have been some discussions about the autoinstallers in the blogs here. I have seen that on some hosts the cron jobs do not get properly setup, and there have been other reported problems.
Here is one such discussion. http://www.boonex.com/unity/blog/entry/Softaculous_and_its_Security_Flaws_in_Respect_to_Dolphin_SECURITY_ISSUE_or_My_Imagination_
There are others if you look through the recent blogs.

Because it is a dolphin certified host, have them check. I can't really tell you what to set the cron to. It depends on your host.
Perhaps if you post who your host is, someone here may have already run into this, and could help.

Thanks.
Hostforweb.com one of the reccomended ones on the boonex site.
Am in live chat with them at the mo trying to look into it.
Thanks - for your help, will check out the link you posted.
Much appreciated

Looks like the RMSserver was not setup on the account.
Am testing now... hopefully will all work!

I saw this in the title of your post but don't see it in the actual post:
daihlo: HOSTFORWEB officialy SUCK! After they advertise on BOONEX that they fully
Besides agreeing with you, this might just be a bug that needs reporting. If a post is modified in Unity, the one line preview should be modified as well so others won't see what you originally put. Anybody want to submit this bug?

jctwebsites... I didnt realise the thread title was still there
I did post a complaint as I was at first told by hostforweb after signing up to their service and installing dolphin , that video streaming was not supported on their shared servers. I was told I would have to pay for a VPS or dedicated which I was suprised at as the advert said the shared server fully supported the script...
Anyway, am in talks with them trying to sort it out.
So far, the RMS server has been configured correctly on their side aparently, and the shared server now supports the script.
However, I still cannot yet get videos to upload...
flash server, the vid uploads, even gives the upload complete message, but then the vid just simply dissapears and cannot be found. all admin is set up as default to automatically allow the vid.
the normal server just sits there uploading for ever and goes nowhere. I mean a 3mb file not finishing uploading even after an hour....
so far, no joy. Very frustrating as so far the rest of the Dolphin script is looking nice. Just cant get it to work with any vids other than embeds which is not what I need.
As a side note, have you managed to get Dolphin working fully on HFW? You obviously have some dealings with them?

RMS has absolutly nothing to do with video uploads. RMS is only needed for things that require live time. Whiteboard, cam support in chat rooms, recording video comments, ect.
Check other things to make sure the auto installer at HFW set them up properly.
the file flash/modules/global/app/ffmpeg.exe must be mode 777
the folder flash/modules/video/files must be mode 777 or 755 on some servers.
An the cron jobs must be working.
Also php.ini settings must be as follows.
register_globals=Off magic_quotes_gpc=On allow_url_include=Off upload_max_filesize=300M post_max_size=300M max_input_time=3000 max_executi alt=3000 memory_limit=128M short_open_tag=On
I don't trust auto installers. You may need to reinstall dolphin by hand or get somone to do it for you.

This is getting weirder by the minute...
Now, HFW have managed to upload a video, I stil cant...?!?
Although I did upload 2 videos earlier that have now appeared in the video folder after some delay. Maybe down to processing...
Thing is, the videos are only 1 or 2 seconds long whereas the originals were 5 mins...
Just dont get it and getting a bit frustrated with the not so 1 click install I was sold!
Im looking for 3 installs of the script for 3 domains, all on the same host (until working), are there any services on offer to install the scripts properly by anyone?
|
Am getting nowhere fast with this one.
HFW have been helpfull in so much as theyve been responding with good time. But, in one support ticket over 2 days, Ive already had 7 'team' dealing with the one issue. Theyre either a big company or they outsource to a call centre which doesnt inspire much confidence...
Problem still remains, cannot upload any videos.
The softaculous install didnt install any cron jobs and the settings for the ffmpeg.exe were wrong.
These have now apparently been corrected, but still no change.
Im looking for 3 installs of dolphin on 3 domains, prefferably on a shared host until they are up and running - need to see if they are worth the investment of the full license and vpd/dedicated first...
So far, I cant even get the script to run properly
Can anyone please recomend a good host that would fullfill these requirements and be able to install the scripts for me???
Thanks.

Getting silly now.
HostForWeb have now put the 8th person onto the case...
Starting all over again, asking me the same simple basic questions that have been gone over with each support worker in the same ticket.
I dont think the new guy even bothered to read the whole ticket, just my last response...
at this stage, I would not be able to make any posative recomendation for HFW and unfortunately, not for Dolphin either until I can see it running!
