I would check the /templates/base/scripts/BxBaseFunctions.php file and make sure there is not additional whitespace (lines) after the closing

?>

php statement.

Nothing to see here

I had the same problem yesterday with videos .... when I went to videos section I got a very similar message complaining about a [ in BxBaseFunction. Not sure what the problem was, but disabled permission to upload videos and re-enabling it, was succesful, error was gone and all is working fine again.

You wouldn't  happen to have any blog-related mods installed, would you?

I encountered the same error while using Deano's Tools to create php blocks.

It turned out that somehow a literal "1" character had been added to the tail end of the block.

Other things that can generate this error: misplaced semi-colon, forgetting to open or close quotes, unescaped quotes within strings, having ctrl-shift on while using a multi-language keyboard, working in the same room with cats or children.

Mine has been doing this almost since I installed it. No one has ever really explained why. It has been here so long it's considered a software 'trait' instead of a bug.

Even if you mange to fix it, it will return like a bad ghost, it always does.
