Web Browser Incompatibility Issues

Hi Boonex Friends,

A number of my members are having problems viewing my website, mainly because the banner ads I have positioned down either side are overlaping the main page contents, This makes it impossible to navigate t the site, inparticularly the Member Sign Up page as all the text boxes are covered by the banner.

Some of these issues have been resolved by change the screen resolution onn the members personal computer, other not so fortunate. The browsers that appear to be unresponsive are Safari, Google Chrome and iPad Dolphin.

Is any other members finding problems with these browsers. if so:

  • If you have you found a solution to the problem, please share
  • Are there any known issues between Boonex Dolphin 7.0.7 and the above lnternet problems
  • If so are the Boonex team doing anything to produce a mod or a patch.

Obviously this is a major problem that will drive prospective members away from your site, no matter how impressive or unique your site is.

Please find screen shot attached.

Answers on a post card or by carrier pigeon if found to be faster than Royal Mail.

I eagerly await your replies

Regards

There's really no solution for this, because the banners aren't placed in a fixed location, but instead float to a percentage.  You would be better off editing the header (_sub_header.html) or footer (_sub_footer.html) area of the template and placing the banners there.

The banner system has always caused ugly overlaps. Instead you can put them at the top and bottom of every page (like Nathan suggested) and you can also place them in HTML blocks on the individual pages of the site.

Thank Nathan and Mscott. for clarifying the matter and the possible solutions that you have suggested. I did contact my Web Hosting provider to see if they had a solution to the problem, this is their reply:

Thank you for contacting TMDHosting Technical Support Team.

I am afraid that the issue in question is related to the coding of the application and the template in use and is development related. Unfortunately we do not offer development services to patch the script for compatibility with ll the major web browsers. In order to have such patches set you may need to contact an expert local web developer. S/He should be able to review the website design and modify it where needed in order to provide compatibility for all the most commonly used web browsers on all the major operating system.

Should you have any further questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us.

This is the only problem that I have thrown at them that they have not been able to resolve, they do have a brilliant technical team who certainly bend over backwards to help.

I think the Boonex team need to look at addressing this problem in version 8 or certainly come up with a modification for 7.0.7 users. The essence is to attract users to your site and the old addage still stands "FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT" otherwise you are on a no winner.

I would appreciate a comment from Mr Boon in relation to this matter and what they are doing or intending to do to resolve the problem

Again thanks guys for your prompt replys and support
