2 ways to do this...u can find a auto chmod mod at expertzzz.com for your version and it will do it for u....

or u can login to your cpanel...go into file manager....right click on the first file it says to change permissions on....click the change permissions tab.....

these are the values....

Read = 4

Write = 2

Execute = 1

first number of the 3 it tells u is for User then group and finally world

so if the installation tells u 777

then u need to give all 3 groups (user,group,and world) the read, write, and execute permissions

say 755 was called...

then u would give user the read, write and execute permission, and then give group and world the read and execute permissions....

hope this help

What program did you use to upload the files?  You can most likely use it to change directory and file permissions.

I use CutefTP Pro.... you can download a 30 day free trial.  http://www.globalscape.com/cuteftppro/

I don't know the specifiics of the upload program you used, but with CuteFTP, you just right click on the file (server side), then click 'properties'.  This pops up a window where you can enter and save the directory/file permissions.

If your hosting comes with cpanel, you can log onto cpanel and use the file manager to change permissions.  Just right click on the file or folder and select 'Change Permissions'
