Hi guys,
I wanted to ask what does a broken file mean in cpanel/file manager? it wasn't there before and I just noticed it.
For example:
Base
Base_broken
OR
tmpl_name
tmpl_name_broken
Thanks.

Did someone do some work on your site and re-name the old template to "template_broken"? I've never seen that before. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
Did someone do some work on your site and re-name the old template to "template_broken"? I've never seen that before. Yes someone did work on my site. So do you think its just a copy of the file? Sometimes communicating your problem and putting it out there is enough to solve it |
Yeah, that would be my best guess. Someone re-named the old template but left it there as a backup. Was the work they did to fix something related to the design of the site maybe? BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
and from the naming convention that has been used here, i would say the person who done this work is either lazy or didnt know what they were doing in dolphin:
i.e. tmpl_name is what is used for the example of creating templates, and is typically mistaken by novices as something you would really need to name a template.
tmpl_name tmpl_name_broken
and if Base_Broken is correctly spelled by you, then that would appear to be a hard-hacked file. that is the language directory for orca. when the langs are compiled on orca, there are directories written. generally you see:
base_en <-- notice the lowercase uni_en tmpl_en or its suffixed with whatever language you are compiling to. the fact that there is a Base_Broken, tells me something is weird there. and further reason i would suspect of the person doing this work.
and in this particular case, 'a broken file' means somebody named it broken, because they seem to be trying to create a custom design, and params.php seem to be kicking their arse. so the person you have doing the work on your site, ask them what tmpl_broken means. but quite simply it means whatever they were trying, didnt work. I guess I'll have to ask the guy who worked on my website and see if I can delete those files. Maybe you're right and its just a backup file or a copy of the file. Thanks very much!! Sometimes communicating your problem and putting it out there is enough to solve it |
