What does "new user has been confirmed" mean ?

Hello

On doing browse analysis I am seeing that boonex dolphin social network is constantly being targeted by bastard spammers or people who subscribe themselves with rubbish data (because I have seen that their usernames are also present in other social networks based on this platform). As I noticed that, I went to Settings, Moderation Settings and put it so that only upon my sending of email confirmation, they would get confirmed. However, I am getting mails saying that " user x has been confirmed

this is one example of the emails I get

New user hei018zhou with email bishui913@yahoo.com has been confirmed, his/her ID is 168

What does this "has been confirmed" mean ? Does it mean that that email exists ? Confirmed by whom ? or by what ?

I have never confirmed any of these bastards.

Yes, their registration attempts do not make it to the point of showing up as new members on the Home Page, but still I get these annoying emails like 5 f**** times a day!

Also, before when they were able to create the page, I could see that the * obligatory fields had not been filled, yet, the page appeared as a new member. That means only that a script is being used that bypasses the standard way and the captcha.

So, in all this is a pretty lame insecure platform

It means they received the confirmation email that the site sends automatically and either clicked the confirmation link or came to the site and entered the code from the email.  On the moderation options page you don't have any of the three options checked do you? If you don't have any of those options checked it means you have to manually approve every member.

Another trick is to create a new membership level. Call it something like "Premium Member" and give it the ability to do anything on your site you want a REAL member to do. Then take all the actions away from the "standard" membership level. In other words even if these guys bypass your approval somehow they still won't be able to do anything until you upgrade them to that new membership level.

Hello

thank you for the reply. I keep getting emails again from bogus members.

There are 3 checkboxes in the module Moderate settings.

Automatic profile activation after joining:
Do not change profile status after editing profile information:
Automatic profile confirmation without Confirmation Email:

Only the 1 and the 3 are pertinent to a registration and they are unchecked, The one in the middle has nothing to do, it says "do not change profile status after editing profile information" that is checked, but like I said, it has no role in joining or registering.

What I wanted is to manually approve them, and that is why I unchecked the box. However, despite that, they get the confirmation email, which should not be sent, because it is unchecked. Again, their page is not created, so they will be frustrated enough with that, but the fact that they get a confirmation email annoys me, because i get to receive 2 for each, one joined and one confirmed.  I wish I could have just 5 minutes with those sick people who spend their miserable lives entering their rubbish in the websites of other people. They are really twisted individuals. psychos from the net.

There aqre 3 sets of e-mail sent to a new member

1) verify your e-mail address so we know if it is real or not

2) e-mail confirmed but you are still not authorized by the site administrator (if boxes 1 & 3 are unchecked)

3) status changed to active (if boxes 1 & 3 are unchecked and you approved them in the dashboard)

If you don't want to be overrun by spam, ban each spammer's e-mail address or server.

Thank you, well then I am going to uncheck the second box too, see what happens. As per banning their IPs, yes I am doing that, but there could be hundreds of them, most of them come from China, Vietnam. Pity that they dont have servers, I would nuke them without hesitation

thank you again

best regards

Al
