What if no RMS installed?

Just a quick question to whomever would be kind to reply. How usable would D7 be if the RMS was not installed? I don't have a need for videos per se, so would D7 be crippled without the RMS? TIA

The Media Server allows the use of audio/video communication in the chat and messenger applications, video recording and the boards application.

Without it installed or enabled, these extra features become unaccessible. However, you can still use the regular uploading of audio and video, along with basic chat and messenger use.

In other words, D7 (and 6) work fine without RMS.

The Ray Media Server is used by the Ray flash apps. If its not a Ray Flash app, it should not ned the RMS.

It's currently inaccessible to those outside of the development. It's being worked on, and is waiting until Dolphin 7.0.1 for the needed bug and security fixes for the script.
