What is the purpose of Custom RSS module?

After installing the custom rss module, it does nothing. By clicking on it in admin it only says empty

It adds a custom rss block on the users profile page, so they can have their own personal rss feed... from a blog, etc.  There are no settings in admin.

That's because the link provided is not a valid RSS feed.

[edit] This is an example of what your expected to see using an RSS link for display in a site.

http://feeds.abcnews.com/abcnews/topstories
