Where to get more help?

Hello everyone,

I am working on a site and I need answer quicker than this forum is providing. Where can I go that will offer technical information? I need to get this site live before I turn old. LOL! I have simple questions that need to be answered. Boonex doesn't return e-mails and it seems like I am at a dead end. I understand that some of my technical questions I will have to figure out myself. However I can't get a simple answer about ssl for directories. I don't know anything about ssl and how to configure them. If anyone can give me some other sites that offer information that would be great!

Well let's see here... Where can you go for help that will put you at the head of the line... Hmmm....

Thinking... Thinking... Thinking....

Okay, how about this:

1.  boonexnerds.com

2.  modmysite.com

3.  dolphinzzz.com

4.  expertzzz.com

5.  Start asking your questions and use the search function on Unity, it is your best solution for quick results.

But, I have the most novel approach of all... How about if you start asking your questions here in the forums and if we can answer them we will jump right to it in lightning fast speed that will cause a 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo to overheat and melt down a nuclear power plant trying to support it.  Is that fast enough?

Ok, I ain't sure if your being a smart (you know what) or being sarcastic. I know it might be a little while before I get an answer but, some of my questions never get answered. Now, I am not talking about this forum either. this forum is pretty good with response time. You have to understand where I am coming from. I am trying to run a business and if I can't get simple question answered from boonex.com then I am wasting my time sending e-mails. Also I have been waiting patiently for an answer for a week. I am just trying to find where I can get faster answers. That's all. Really didn't mean to offend anyone.

Okay, I read my first topic and I didn't mean this forum but, boonex in general. Sorry about that!

Well first off. The sites mydatery listed are good. Check them out.

But you do need to keep one thing in mind. Most people here will not answer a question they don't have a answer for.

Your SSL issue is very uncommon. Even the big boys like myspace and facebook don't run SSL enabled sites. So many, if not most of us will not be able to answer your question because it is so rare for a social networking site to run with SSL.

It's my guess that most of us have not even tried to.

But we do answer questions we have a answer for, and pretty quick too.

First, I am a sarcastic smart aleck, those who have been around know that, but as I gave you in my first post here, those sites are good places to start looking.  The fastest responses will come from this site though, as it is the largest Dolphin support site out there.

Moving on, your SSL question is not a simple question as Dolphin is built utilizing directory, upon directory, upon directory.  It employs php, css, AJAX, HTML, Flash, SQL and so many other little tricks to pull it off, and for us to tell you exactly where to put your SSL is not a question we can readily answer as Dean stated to you.

Consider these questions that your question raises:

1.  What is your site doing?  Are you selling Books, Movies, Music, Memberships, Classifieds, Auctions, Blogs, Forums, Chat, Whiteboards, Condoms, Cars, Crayons, Articles, Events, Groups and the list goes on.  Now each of those items will require a different type of location for your certificiate.

2.  How are charging your members?

3.  Have you installed modifications already to your site?

4.  Which countries are you attempting to do business in?

5.  Which side of your mouth do you poke your tongue out of when thinking hard?  It really does apply to dolphin, I swear on your life.

The best answers to your questions are going to be found in an SSL forum/FAQ section as there are just to many variables and we don't deal with them that often, I myself have never dealt with them and probably never will since my sites run 100% Free and don't even have ads on them.

Again, I thank you for your replies. I guess I am annoyed because I have written to boonex and they never reply back. How do they expect people to buy the ad free license if they don't e-mail their potential customers. I also want to thank mvdatery for the sites that he had listed. Maybe I am expecting too much from this software. For the SSl maybe I should contact my hosting company to get them to help. We have many means for this site to be secured with ssl. We have a few good ideas that haven't been put on the internet yet. We simply need a core software to build from that. If anyone knows of a better software please let me know. We have tried joomla, drupal, among others, and now dolphine. Dolphine seems to be the one but, not sure as of now. Thanks again for your help.

I believe there is one site, it's not a support site, but it is a dolphin site and if I remember correctly, it's running an SSL on it.

http://forsakencherry.com

It's not exactly a site you want to open with your kids standing next to the computer, however the owner is someone who has done an awesome job with Dolphin and you should be able to get a hold of him through the contact us button on that site.

Also, see if you can find Scampbell over at expertzzz.com or dolphinmods.  Either of them may be able to help you out.  Sorry, but this just isn't our field and we'd hate to steer you wrong, but would love to see you use dolphin for your project.  As far as boonex goes, please keep in mind they get hit with thousands of e-mails everyday and are on the otherside of the world from most of us.  They work Monday through Friday and do take the weekends off.
