Why a new user can write on another user timeline?

Hi,

So, lets say John just registered and then he finds the profile of Mike, and the post to timeline is there open to write and post.

I was looking on the dashboard but there is nothing to turn on/off.

Does this need to be hardcoded?

thanks

Im not one of the experts but I think I remember a checkbox on the list of permissions for each level of membership where you can turn off their ability to post to others timeline......

Ok I found it.........

Number 8 on the dashboard takes you there........press standard membership actions if that is your initial entry membership level.......the box says............."timeline post comment", likely you have that checked....to stop standard member from posting you need to uncheck that

I have a long list of membership levels you may need to do that too if you have them all on 1 membership level

nope, that will disable for both users. So basically John won't be able to write on his own wall.

I need that new users to not be able to write on another user timeline/wall.

From the start:

All new registered users are automatically assigned with the standard membership level.

This same new user if he/she finds another user profile while browsing the website he/she will be able to write on that user's timeline.

If I disable that option on the membership actions for the standard membership, then no one else is able to write on their own timeline.

(Basically it's like if on facebook we could write on anyone's wall without even befriend)

Hope you can understand me.

so, you do not want a user to post on someone elses timeline unless they are a friend of that other user?

  yes

If profile is public then anyone can post in timeline, if user set profile privacy for friends only, then only friends can view timeline and post there.

That is a way to circumvent the issue.

The owner of a profile should be able to control who posts on their timeline without the need to hide their profile completely.

Imagine: I am an artist and want the public to see my publications but I don't want them to post on my timeline. Comments? yeah, maybe.
