I have a question for this forum, and it is not a judgmental question. Why are people working with this eighth beta? We already know that Boonex will not provide any help or support in upgrading to the next beta, so are most people doing this mostly as a volunteer project - i.e. to be "good Boonex citizens". Or are people here mostly doing it for a "shake down" of the technology so that when the RC is eventually ready you will be more familiar with it? If so, how far do you plan to take it? Configuring this thing is quite a bit of work and I can't imagine doing this unless you hope to salvage at least some of your work. I could be wrong though - maybe building and tearing down these systems is no big deal for some people - you do get better at it the more you do it.
Are there people here who are working with Beta 8 because you plan to try to upgrade to the next beta or RC without an upgrade script or support from Boonex? - whenever that happens. If so, how do you plan to do it? Are you following the changes on trac and upgrading the individual files? - or are you doing database or table updates - how is it working? Are there still people here with live sites? Have you kept up with all the changes through the different betas? If so, any information you can share about your techniques - what works, and what doesn't, would be appreciated.
This is really just a poll of this particular forum. There are probably as many reasons for testing the beta as there are people testing the beta, but I would like to know what is motivating people here. I would also like to hear from people who have decided not to work with beta 8 - I think there are quite a few of them. Are you still working with earlier betas? How are you making progress with your applications without Boonex support? What is your upgrade strategy, if any? Again, this is NOT judgmental - everyone has their reasons, I would just like to see if we can deal with this situation and share information more effectively so we can all move forward.
