If not mistaken, RPX requires remote verification upon use. Some people, such as myself, hate to be tied to RPX' whitelist. things get tricky when you have to keep on relying on someone else.

Could be... I'm not really that familiar with rpx.  I was just made aware of that integration a few days ago, so I thought I'd mention it (I didn't notice that the mod developer already had)

Personally, I don't like third party sign in, because it circumvents filling out all the usual fields on the join form.  If people don't have a spare 60 seconds to join your site the regular way, they're probably too busy to be an active member anyway.  I'd rather have a site with a few hundred active members than 10,000 members that sign up and are never heard from again.

The mod I'm looking for is a bit different, and I'm clueless on rpx until today. But, is there a mod that allows a member to auto-post events, updates, etc to their FB, Twitter accounts?

There is. I have one that works fairly well. If you check the Market, you can find a Facebook/Twitter combo that's a fair deal at $90 (I think). I just removed it though in favor of the RPX mod. In my eyes, and after relentless screwing around, I made the decision that I want  some of what Facebook/Twitter has but I don't want to be completely merged with them or just like them. Using the RPX mod allows them to seamlessly join my site using the same details with 2 clicks of a mouse. When they us it, they have the same dynamic for my site and facebook and keeping 2 tabs open for each site in their browser is a no brainer, even for the completely giftless internet user.

That's not to say you shouldn't use it. The mod worked flawlessly for me. It places a block in Account, Profile and you can add a Facebook & Twitter block directly to the main menu if you wish.
