World map error in 7.05

There is an error in my world map for v 7.05. I want members to be indexed on the map according to their zip code. I have two accounts set up with different zip codes that are in my city.

City    Milwaukee     Zip 53201

City    Everywhere   Zip 53218

On the map Milwaukee (53201) is showing in the correct space  (Wisconsin)

Everywhere (53218) is showing  in Flordia  53218 is another Wisconsin zip code located in Milwaukee.

How can I get this map to show according zipcodes?

I am using the world map attached to google and it won't show zip codes in the proper location.

two different locations in the same map. one is showing in Wisconsin (US) and the other one is showing in Florida (US) they BOTH should be showing in Wisconsin (US)

I've just tried to register profiles with your zipcodes and everything looks fine:

It was some problems with geocoding in previous versions. If you upgraded from previous versions and profiles joined old version then wrongly geocoding data was cached. I suggest you to reinstall world maps module and update cities and profiles locations.

I am using the world map that originally came with dolphin 7.05.  what did you use to get the as the are you using

OR

Profile address field name for exact address geocoding: Postcode (zip)

I'm not sure what I am suppose to be using and this is a new site with only the first two accounts I created on it so far.

Please leave "Profile address field name for exact address geocoding" field BLANK.

It is useful only when you have added "address" field, when you have no address field - leave it as it is - blank !

I did the changes you recommended and if I use the profile map it does show in the correct place.  BUT it still shows me in other odd place in the World Map.   Can that be fixed?

You need to update profile locations after this change, if you have not a lot of profiles I recommend to reinstall map module and then update locations.

The site is still under construction and my profile is only there. I just reinstalled the complete boonex site yesterday due to my errors. I will reinstall only the world map again and see what happens. thanks

I've done EVERYTHING you recommended me to do.  I posted several trial profiles using different cities and zip codes.  When I put the correct zip code and city, it shows fine.  If I put some odd ball name (everywhere, anywhere etc) with a known zip it shows the little icon in a place nowhere near the zip code that I placed in the zip code area.  BUT I did notice when i created a profile and gave it the city Chicago it shows as being in Chicago but when I zoom into Chicago nothing is there, I go to the neighboring state and there is the little person icon where it really should be.  What is wrong with this module that it just won't map people according to their zip codes like I want it to. Why is this so hard???  (I want it to map profiles according to the zip code not city)

The system already using zipcodes for geocoding.

How it works:

Optional Pre-First step is to geocode using address field, city and country (if address field is entered in the settings)

First it tries to geocode position using Zipcode and Country

If it fails, the second step is to try to geocode using City and Country.

And last fallback step is country only geocoding.

So if right zipcode is entered - it definitely works! See examples I've provided in the first reply.

However it maybe some fault on second step - since we have no Region/Province/State field and there is duplicate city in another Region/Province/State, then it maybe that profile position will be geocoded incorrectly.

What it does is show the BUILDING icon where they put the city and the little PERSON icon for whatever zip code they entered. SO a person can put their city as being New York and put a zip code for Dallas and they will show in both places when you zoom in to these locations.  This is a serious bug that needs to be fixed.

If user have the special intention to provide the wrong information, he/she will do it despite all the restrictions !

There is no reason to do it for normal people.
