Zip Code Database

I uploaded a zip code database for some 10,000 zip codes I did not have the ZipCodeType nor the GMTOffset  but the upload was very nice.  Do I have to do anything to turn on the radius search feature? I assume it will work without the two fields mentioned.  If not How do I get the ZipCodeType.  There are 16 fields 14 were filled with data but I still don't see the radius search as working.  I simply entered a zip code with a zip code that does get picked up and it did not return the record.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as getting that zip code thing together was quite a task.........
