Zip Code database/SQL file?

Where is the Zip codes data file? I've been playing with Dolphin 7 for a few days, never heard of it until last week but I have searched all over.  I saw someone indicate it's provided as a free download from Boonex.  If not, where can I find a compatible (free) database that matches the specs of the zip table?

Beyond the above, I seriously recommend BoonEx staff to review the usability of this site.  To login to the forum is not intuitive, one has to fist navigate away by clicking "ACCOUNT" then back to the forum where they were.  Also, there's no search.  Finally, the the concept of "Unity" in contrast to "support" is somewhat confusing.  This site needs a site map of sorts.

As for the software itself, it's top notch.  It's a little hard to work through but persistence does prove it's incredibly useful and powerful.  However, it would be beneficial to have a description of what the included modules do, so one knows whether to enable them or not or how to use them once enabled.  When trying to find answers, the feeling is given that someone has to have been involved in the Dolphin world for years to find that information - let alone something as basic as links to that information.

But for now, I just want to know about the Zip codes data.

You have to look around for a Zip Code DB for D7.  They exist for D6, not sure if they do for D7 yet.  Though with Google Maps integrated fully into D7, you may want to look at getting an API Key for Google Maps and use that.

There was a search box to the top right, but I just noticed that it's gone.  What happened to it Boonex?

I'd be perfectly happy with the D6 zip codes data, I can automate a conversion for it, but even that I don't know where to find.  Does it come with the package or is it a separate download?

How is Google Maps API integrated into the API?  Is it as simple as enabling a plugin and adding my API key somewhere or is there more to it than that?

My goal right now is to get the base functionality I'm interested in with as few modules as possible.  The fewer moving parts, the less chance of an issue.  But, if the Google Maps aspect is solid, I'll consider it.

They were on sale at expertzzz but that is down now.  You will have to wait for people to repost them and converting them to D7 database usage is very simple.

There is an automated zip search function mod that uses an online database (not googlemaps) you can purchase in the meantime.  If you don't have a good server I would suggest it as your sql table to get even a reputable number of zip codes will be quite large, I'm sitting at 100m+ for my zip table.  The mod is here:http://www.boonex.com/unity/extensions/entry/ZIP_Codes_Search

I finally found where the Google Maps option is buried.  These modules seriously need to be named better & have descriptions.

Anyway, for now I'll stick to the Google option as that will get me fleshed out faster.  I have plenty of space for the Zip codes data, but I'll revert to that option later on.

Down side about Google Maps is that if I import user accounts or disable/re-enable the module, I would have to re-build all that data.  It's not a good thing to do on a shared host and I don't know how BoonEx has set up to handle Google's API limits.  I'd rather do conversions offline, pre-populate, then leave the rest to people organically adding/modifying their location info.
