age profile privacy

Hi all, anyone know how to set an age setting on profile privacy?

I mean so admin can set so that profiles are private apart from to friends for members of a set age?

Theres a mod for this thats for D6 but not for D7...

This is the only one I can find, however, its a D6 mod.

Will try it on a test install of D7, see how it runs...

No, not compatible with D7. All the wrong files!

This is important!!!

With all the sensitivity around 'safe' sites, trying to launch any sort of profit based social network, but then having to say 'No, you cant restrict adults from looking at kids profiles...' is a major flaw...!

Should be something as standard in the script that allows you to set what at what age, profiles are viewable by all. Anything under, should be private - friends only by default.

I only find one module for this on market, and thats for Dolphin 6 and cannot be installed on 7!

Someone please tell me they have a way to set this!???

I see your point, but unless you are finding a way to certify that a person's age is correct, as the US Congress has asked major sites to do, you are quite helpless.

The only thing you can do is to create a separate profile section in Fields builder with the age, and the user can setup their privacy for that block.  that is the easiest, and actually protects other information as well

I really feel this is being overlooked by Boonex.

Members dont change their profile settings as its not that clear how to do so. Anything that is optional, will most likely not get changed by the majority.

I know kids just lie about their age anyway on social networks, thats not the point. Its more that we need to show that as social network 'webmasters' we are taking our own responsibilities seriously.

There should be a built in admin control where you can select at what age profiles are public.

This is quoted from the Boonex constitution page for using this site.

1.1. You certify that you are 13 years of age or over. All those individuals under 13 years of age will need a full release form from their parents before posting any content. This is in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 2000 (COPPA).

Where we are encouraged to build community network sites, we need to recognize that all ages will use them. I have a site that has a kids section, along with wider community sections. all 'family safe' content.

I dont want the site to be seen as unsafe for younger members to use.
