ajax area not updating

I've download and install the free version of the apps, and everything AJAX based appears to not be working. I go to the menu builder or the page builder and the AJAX sections or animations that say things are loading stays there forever and never returns. I've been in "Admin Menu: Panel Builder" for about 10 minutes now. I've tried logging out and back in. This is on a dedicated server with low volume so there should be no load issues.

What gives?

Check your php.ini file and make sure that allow_url_fopen is set to  On

You know Chris, this sounds like he has some compressed or missing files in inc/java/section.  Perhaps if he compared the directories (file names/count/size) with a fresh install package he'd see the issue.
