block ip address

why is is so hard to block an ip address of a spammer? I have looked all over dolphin and for the life of me I cannot find a direct way to block and individual ip address of a spammer. The anti spam tools has no way of doing it, and the ip black list has no way of doing it so I am stumped. Is there a way to block ip address on dolphin? I searched forum and can only find old stuff that isn't the same as the newer versions of dolphin

In admin under tools then ip blacklist. From and to set to same IP address will be a individual ip address. Just because it is asking for a range does not mean it has to be.

I have been looking at the ip blacklist thing but I can't see a way to actually block the individual ip address,

Yes you can.

First set your settings like so.

Now setup the ip block like so.

Of course instead of the ip address shown in the above image of 50.138.214.211 you would use the IP address you want to block instead. One IP in both the From and To boxes block only one IP address. So yes. It can be done.

And i did test this using my own IP address on my own site, so i know this works.

so the 'from' and 'To' is the ip address not the date?

There is no point to that.

Your assuming that IP addresses are permanent. Spammers do not use static/permanent ip addresses. If you make the block permanent , you will end up blocking a inocent person that gets that ip address later. Blocking for any more than a month is pointless.

If you obtain and enter "Stop Forum Spam" API key in admin panel > tools > antispam tools > settings, then upon "delete spammer" action in admin tools > members, user info(username, email, IP)  is submitted to the common database.
