blog text problems

I was experimenting with my css files and changed a global setting that keeps the text of my blogs at font color #222222. It seems to override the blogs.css and generates this string in the finished blog page:

<p><span style="color:#222222;font-family:Arial;font-size:12px;">blog text body here

How can I change this setting? It's driving me mad.

Actually I can shed more light on the problem. Whatever I changed has set the default font color to gray. if I go into an text editing box like this one I'm typing in now, the font color and font background is gray by default. how do OI get those settings back to normal?
