can't upload pdf

I have the Files Module installed, but do not see any way to upload files, specifically PDF, but I may want other file types over time.

There is no mechanism in the Admin panel for the Files Module and when I navigate to files home, there is no way to upload a file, just view it.

I want to upload PDF files to the site for others to download, but do not see a way to do it through the Files module, or any other way except for using an HTML block and ftp'ing the files into my site.

I have my member level set to full access for everything on the site, so access is not a problem.

I did see file upload in groups, but where I want it is on pages I have created, and in a central place (like Files home) where people can go to download the files that have been uploaded. I don't want to make a group just so I can upload files.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

I tried what your suggesting, files section, uploaded sample pdf, and then downloaded with no problem.

PM me for example links. It's not good to list sites here because of others...

You can upload files from the files home page by clicking the my folders link at the top, where you then either create a new folder, or click on your current one. Once done, click the add more link that appears on the center of the screen.

Alternatively, you can get to your files more directly by navigating from your profile to your files.

Thanks for the suggestions.

There is no link to create folders, upload files, or anything else.  That is why I am having problems!!

I am an admin and also have a membership level that gives me permission to do anything on the site.

I have attached a screen shot, there is a link below, so you can see the problem.

add this to the end of your domain and see if you can create one:         m/files/albums/my/add/

you are missing the entire sub menu all together.  did you remove these options from the menu builder ?

Thanks Dolphin_jay   - I can add pages using the link you sent.

I removed a lot of stuff from the navigation bar, and put it other places.  My folks aren't looking for forums, groups, etc. They are looking for information on topics, so I have been rebuilding the site to allow folks to browse by topic area. It is much more intuitive for the users that way.

I did not expect basic functions like add a folder and upload a file to be accessed through the navigation bar. Those should be available as functions on the file home page.  I'll just have to do more programming to get the links to the functions appear where I want them.  I already had to fight with quick links because they were tightly coupled to the navigation tabs. I decoupled them Laughing

I'll look through the navigation menus to see what else was there that I might have to tweak code to get back.

The information and assistance is much appreciated.
