changes to the top menu 'add more' button

There was a thread several weeks ago, that I can't seem to find, with ideas for modifying the "More Links" button located on the right-side of the top menu... please post the link on this thread.  I'm interested in the idea of replacing the button with a text button for the list of extra links.
