changing the size of photos via main photo unit

So I changed the size of the of the photos via main photo unit via modules photos settings. I’m on version 7.1.4, I cleared the cache via tools and the browser I use and nothing changed. When I upload a new photo it’s the new right size. Is there any way to make the already uploaded photo’s fit the new format? Thanks in advance for any advice and or input.

Your question is ambiguous.

It IS possible... I remember someone doing it a long time back using a php file that looped through the directory and used Imagemagick commands to resize the files. 

 That's one possible interpretation of his question.  The size of the image shouldn't matter though, so It's not clear to me why you'd even need to resize them.... unless he's using a template that uses some width other  than 100% in the photo view page.  That's why I said the question is ambiguous... it's not clear what the real problem is.

Maybe the old sizes are stored in a DB table. 

What I would like to see, ( after spending hours reformatting module templates ( that work will probably be wiped if upgraded to 8 ) rather than access each mod to make the changes is a single css that reformat them all when changed.   Not that it's hard to do, it's the potential of future loss of time invested. ( for free to boot )

If you ad a pic to events ( for one ) and place it on the home page, the image is fixed way up in the left and rather than text wrapping properly around the pic - ya get one strait skinny column of text on the right with a lot of white space under the image.

Pic attached of reformat(s) of  Groups and Events in the mod's template area (right column of attachment ). 

Please add that to my wish list.. though I could be dead before my wish was granted, I still ask.  (g)

I wanted to resize them so when you clicked on the thumbnail and view them the pictures would be larger. I did this for the avatar and they resized fine. Thanks for input, sounds like too much work, they can click on the original button.

 I'm afraid you lost me on that one.  That's basically how Dolphin photos work out of the box.... unless you had the size set at some ridiculously small value in the photos module settings.  But anyway, you can make big photos smaller, but if you try to make small photos bigger, all you do is severely pixelate them.
