decide what the public sees

Hi, I have searched about and tried the options which I found but I am still having problems with guests (public) seeing things I don't wish them to see, for example any time line posts show up, I have turned off all the options on the membership settings for non-members, I have walked through two tutorials on changing the database (thank you to those who wrote them) and still members of the public can see everything.

What I would like is a simple login/signup box and nothing else, this setting is for Charity Trustees and Workers only, therefore all information needs to be kept private. We are planning on implementing a second site for our members to use but only once we get to trial this setup first.

It sounds like what you need is a splash page that anyone who isn't logged in is directed to.

Yes, if the site is meant to be members-only, a splash page should be added to redirect visitors. You can also play with the Page Access Control module, which lets you restrict access to entire pages, menu items, page blocks, etc. by membership level. It's really nifty.

You can use the Builder and click on Navigation and each box such as chat, search, home, blogs, etc uncheck the Guest box and save. Then, you can use the page builder and select homepage and click on each item listed that's active and uncheck guests. You will end up with a blank homepage with your logo, a search bar, and a join/login button at the top and the bar at the bottom that contains the privacy, terms, about, contact us links.

This is how i have mine setup.

You know what you guys rock, Some sites I frequent simply say heres your answer google, com even when you have spent the last three days trawling through google and posts over 10 years old trying to get a hint or a nibble on how to resolve things. I agree with some of the sentiments of this group, the software has problems very little official support but the community overshadows the negatives and turns it around to being a massive positive.

I will go and do these things asap and will do so with the confidence instilled into me by you guys
