thanks, so whats the tmpl_uni?

templates/tmpl_uni/ is for theme specific changes.  Lets' say you want to be able to have a choice between template colors for seasons, they you'll set the site to use tmpl_uni, if you want another for Christmas then you might create and upload templ_xms as an example and so on and so forth.

We don`t recommend to change anything in base template. This is base, default dolphin template. All customization need to perform in UNI template only. This is will protect you from troubles due upgrading version of dolphin.

If I just make a backup of uni and base, then all should be recoverable; yes?

No. If you update dolphin and they happen to make changes to the scripts that are needed for the new version of dolphin and you restore a older backup then dolphin may not run.

You should always create a copy of tmpl_uni with a new name tmpl_mytheme edit tmpl_mytheme/scripts/BxTemplName.php and change uni to mytheme

Then switch to that template in admin. You do all your changes in that new template. Thats what should be done to prevent any major problems during upgrades.
