email

I have a proffessional install with hostforweb.com

I cannot send emails out from dolphine. The forums have noted that there may be server issues so I have contacted hostforweb.com and this is their reply:

"On our servers we use EXIM as main SMTP service and this service
"pretends" to be sendmail."

Is there something that I am doing wrong?

Thanks

We may not be able to help here since we don't have access to the mail server.  There are other users here of HostforWeb.  If you had made your title more descriptive, such as "Can not send emails on HostforWeb" then other hostforweb users may have come in and offer their advice.  I thought HostforWeb is listed as a Dolphin host; if so, then they should get off their arses and tell you why it may not be working.

The easiest solution for you may be to install the SMTP module and use a third party mail service.

Note: they are and this is the advertisement on Boonex.

Take advantage of HostForWeb's experience in hosting thousands of Dolphin based websites! We'll be here each step of the way as you create your new Social Community website. HFW is the first and the most experienced hosting provider for BoonEx Dolphin.

So they should be eager to help you fix the issue.

Thanks

Just to be sure though, after sending an email I get the following message:

"Profile not found"

Is this definately a server issue?

Profile not found is not the same as not being able to send out emails.

Please be specific in what the issue is.

After filling in the email recipient, subject feild and message feild, I click send. The next page comes up with the message "Profile not found"

Sometimes Dolphin will treat an Apache error (404, 500, 503, etc.) as a profile ID and try to load that account's profile page. Check the PHP error_log for a timestamp that matches when you try to submit the form.

Just to confirm, you're not typing an actual email address into the "recipient" blank are you? That form is just for internal messages... type in someones username and see how things go.
